The 16-song project garnered over 2.1 million streams on SoundCloud in just 48 hours and included guest features from the likes of Famous Dex, Kodie Shane and YSL Duke. Uno broke out in 2016 when the Chris French-produced song “What” was released, which featured his cousin Playboi Carti. We spoke to UnoTheActivist about the song and what he has going on.
HYPEBEAST: Tell us about how the original song came together.
UnoTheActivist: It came together from a studio session Rich booked in New York City. We had made a different song, but Rich had been bumping “Fabo” since it was out. Rich asked if he could do a remix and [I] sent him the instrumental and got his verse back the next day.
Fabo is a huge influence on a lot of younger rappers, what makes him stand out to you?
Fabo isn’t really like that it’s more about me showing off my kicks like you ain’t got these; Just flexing.
It’s been months since LiveShyneDie, what are you working on?
I have been working on Limbus EPs, which has three parts. The first part is dropping June 1.
Would you and thouxanbanfauni ever put out a tape together again?
Fauni and I got a tape, Christ Sake Part 2. Honestly, we have like 200 songs together it, but Christ Sake Part 2 might just drop tomorrow, you never know.
You talk a lot about changing the world and accomplishing something meaningful before you die, what are u trying to accomplish?
There is a lot I want to do. I want to open up schools for the less fortunate, build healthy neighborhoods, create more after-school programs, and help entrepreneurs. I want to leave a legacy behind.
