Snap Launches Snapchat Spectacles V2
Exclusively available on Snapchat’s app and website.
Snap Inc. has introduced the successor to its Snapchat Spectacles, the Snapchat Spectacles V2, exclusively available on Snap’s app and spectacles.com. This time around the glasses are thinner than the original and come in three colors of red, blue and black, each featuring two different lens colors to choose from.
Lens replacement service Lensabl provides support for prescription and polarized lenses for the waterproof eyewear. As far as additional improvements go, Spectacles’ specs have been overhauled to feature improved Wi-Fi for video transfers “up to four times faster” than the original, HD video with enough storage for 70 videos, and a new LED ring to indicate when they’re recording.
Users can now sync photos and videos via Bluetooth alongside a seven-second press of the shutter button, as opposed to the original’s QR code scan. However, you can only sync your Spectacles to Snapchat Memories before exporting videos separately or as one big Story to your camera roll.
The new Spectacles are available today in the U.S., Canada, UK and France, with rollouts expected in 13 more European countries on May 3 for $150 USD.
In related news, Snapchat has begun testing a reversal of its redesign.
