Here's How Lacoste's Polo Shirt has Evolved Over 85-Years
Polos on polos.
With this year being Lacoste’s 85th anniversary, the French label has dug deep into its archives to present a new capsule featuring items that date back to 1930 — when René Lacoste first invented the polo shirt. As an alternative to the attire that was largely worn in the ’30s, tennis star René Lacoste required a shirt that would allow all kinds of movement that would compliment his colorful playing style. As the polo quickly caught on, it became the brand’s signature piece with a momentous update to the design every decade.
With the anniversary just around the corner, each one of these updates will be re-issued and offered to the public in this special capsule collection. Scroll through the images above to get a better look at the different variations to the Lacoste polo.
