Sydney's Felix Hotel Looks to Reinvent Standard Airport Accommodations
Including a rooftop cinema, curated art, eclectic fixtures and more.
Fox Johnston and fellow creative studio Space Control recently joined forces to create the Felix, a themed hotel that sets up shop a mere few steps away from Australia’s Sydney Airport. Upping the accommodation ante of what a lengthy layover should be, the design artistically banks on the golden age of travel with rooms named after various class types — economy to first class — and even features a sky-high penthouse lobby aimed to please the most seasoned jet-setters.
Internal furnishings air on the eclectic side, with mismatching, yet bold color applications, a carefully curated art selection, hanging rattan love seats, copper lighting fixtures and much more. Other notable highlights include a rooftop cinema and a 24-hour self-serve shop that serves locally-sourced dining and drink options, ideal for late night cravings or for the restless night owl.
