Last month, we reported on the strong possibility of Drake joining adidas this year. According to our own sources and footwear industry insiders, the OVO superstar is “unhappy with his Jordan Brand partnership” and looks to secure a deal “more to his liking.” As we originally wrote:
“Sources also say that the rapper is in talks with adidas to forge a new partnership, where he would join peers like Kanye West and Pusha T — West famously left Nike for adidas for similar reasons. Drake and Jordan Brand have worked together since 2013, with a host of Jordan silhouettes reworked by Drake’s OVO imprint in the past five years. The rapper favors the Air Jordan 8, but has collaborated on a variety of silhouettes, including last year’s off-kilter Trunner LX.”
Since the aforementioned report initially broke, Drake has also been seen wearing a pair of YEEZY Season 4 boots. Now, the “God’s Plan” rapper is continuing to fuel speculation by sporting more pieces from adidas. As seen in the Instagram posts below, Drake has hit a basketball court in adidas Crazy 2s and gone out in public in UltraBOOSTs and adidas track pants. While official statements have yet to surface, we might receive some sort of confirmation in the near future.
Last month, Drake made news for his stranglehold on the Billboard Hot 100.
