Noguchi Museum Announces Two New Exhibits for Late Japanese Artist“Akari: Sculpture by Other Means” and “Akari Unfolded: A Collection by Ymer&Malta.”
The Noguchi Museum has revealed plans to launch two new exhibitions dedicated to its namesake and most influential Japanese-American artist, Isamu Noguchi.
First up, “Akari: Sculpture by Other Means” will showcase more than 100 lamps — representing 40 separate models and a vibrant range of archival efforts. Next, “Akari Unfolded: A Collection by Ymer&Malta” will shine the spotlight on 26 Akari-inspired lamp designs crafted by the design studio. Noguchi’s work is best known for his boundary-breaking use of paper lanterns as forward-thinking art.
You can preview both of Isamu Noguchi’s new Noguchi Museum exhibits above; the “Akari: Sculpture by Other Means” and “Akari Unfolded: A Collection by Ymer&Malta” are scheduled to run until January 27, 2019.
Earlier today, the Smithsonian announced that Burning Man-featured desert art would be inhabiting its floors soon.
