Airbus May Install Bunk Beds on Airplanes by 2020
There would also be space for recreational purposes.
Airbus, alongside French-based company Zodiac Aerospace, has released concept designs that see the cargo compartments in an aircraft transformed into sleeping quarters for passengers. The designs show the lower decks of planes transformed into bunk bed modules that can be taken out to make room for cargo instead, making the use of certain aircraft more flexible.
The A330 could sport the cabins as soon as 2020, according to Airbus. There would also be a welcoming module for passengers to be greeted by a desked receptionist, an area used as a playroom or workspace, and a meeting room module featuring seats, desks, and a projector for get-togethers or film watching.
