Three Classic Vans Silhouettes Get Upgraded With Patchwork Denim
Inspired by handmade boro and sashiko detailing.

Vans reworks a trio of classic skate shoes with its upcoming “Patchwork Denim” pack. Inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, the California brand is upgrading the Slip-On, Sk8 Hi and Authentic with elevated patterns and textiles.
LA-based label C2H4 issued handmade boro Vans back in 2016, but this pack will see a wider release than that limited drop. All three sneakers offer a range of patched detailing on the uppers, with the usual white midsole and gum outsole. The Slip-On focuses on muted, textured indigo paneling — recalling an oversized take on Vans’ classic checker pattern. Meanwhile, the Authentic and Sk8 Hi both prominently feature sashiko stitches and layers of contrasting denim, with canvas on the former and navy suede on the latter. Take a closer look at the revised trio above.
Look for the “Patchwork Denim” pack to launch on the Vans Classics website later this month. Vans just can’t keep Japan off its mind, as the footwear giant recently took to Tokyo for its Spring/Summer 2018 lookbook.
