Migos' "Stir Fry" Video Was Inspired by Bruce Lee & Wong Kar-wai

Genius invited director Sing J. Lee to talk about his Migos‘ video “Stir Fry” for their latest episode of Framework. The visual finds Quavo, Offset and Takeoff in a tong-style setting, playing mahjong and later taking part in a kung fu battle.
In the episode, Lee reveals that Quavo wanted something “Asian” for the video without further specification. The director says that he drew inspiration from films starring Bruce Lee, Wong Kar-wai directed films as well as House of Flying Daggers, Hero and Ip-Man.
Lee also touches on the subject of cultural appropriation versus the appreciation of Asian culture, the martial art style of wing chun and the theme of unity.
