Reebok Just Dropped the Purple Answer IV PE Worn by Kobe Bryant in 2003
Worn during the star’s sponsorless season.
Allen Iverson‘s classic Reebok Answer IV has returned, bearing a purple Player Edition colorway made most famous by a different basketball star — Kobe Bryant.
The shoe gained notoriety for its on-court appearances during Bryant’s sponsorless 2003 season. After buying out his adidas contract for $8 million USD, the star was locked out of signing with any other labels for a year, giving him free reign to negotiate and try out a variety of sneakers. Various games saw Bryant donning different models of Reebok‘s Answer IV, including this purple iteration. Boasting a white tumbled leather upper, zipped closure system and Reebok’s proprietary Hexalite sole, the shoe looks as unconventional as it did fifteen years ago, only made more striking by the bold purple hue.
Shop the release over on atmos’s website for ¥21,000 JPY or about $190 USD. Recently, Reebok joined Hanon for a clever revision of the Workout Lo, nodding to one of the brand’s classic ads.
