Kendrick Lamar & ScHoolboy Q Have Earned Their First Platinum Singles as Solo Artists
For two of their biggest records.

As DJ Booth notes, TDE superstars Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q have earned their very first platinum singles as solo artists. For Kendrick Lamar, the Compton rapper racked up a platinum plaque for his 2015 To Pimp A Butterfly anthem “Alright.” Regarding Q’s platinum certification, the Blank Face emcee earned his honor for the 2014 Oxymoron single “Studio.” As of this week, both of the aforementioned tracks have now been officially certified platinum by the RIAA. In the past, Kendrick Lamar has earned similar accolades for songs such as “Poetic Justice” (Gold) and “Swimming Pools (Drank)” (Gold) — guest-work on releases like A$AP Rocky’s “F*ckin Problems,” Travis Scott’s “Goosebumps,” Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” and Tech N9ne’s “Fragile” have also generated RIAA-sanctioned success. Both Q and Kendrick Lamar have produced platinum albums in the form of To Pimp A Butterfly, good kid, m.A.A.d city and Oxymoron.
While we await the next major releases from Kendrick Lamar, we do know that ScHoolboy Q hopes to drop a new album in the near future.
