PlayStation Joins Forces with Nike in This Week's Sneaker Releases
With the return of adidas’ FUTURECRAFT 4D Runner.
Once upon a time, long before the hype pervaded popular culture, the major sneaker brands would typically deliver one, maybe two coveted releases a month, with a heavy emphasis on storytelling. Nowadays, it’s commonplace to see these different labels ditch the ‘who, what, where, when and how,’ and instead drop multiple pairs of heat in just one weekend. A welcomed dilemma for most.
With that said, we continue our weekly roundup of the most sought after silhouettes for the week, hoping to make your ‘cop or drop’ decision as easy as possible. Check out the list below and chime in on the styles you’ll be picking up.
Nike Air Force 1 High “BHM”
Release Date: February 5
Release Price: $130 USD, available via select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike SNKRS
The Swoosh continues to celebrate Black History Month with a special edition of the Nike Air Force 1 High. The black, green and red color blocking returns while majority of the midsole is treated with white coloring. Gold accents also make their way onto the tongue and heel branding, while “EQUALITY” is stamped throughout the strap.
Nike SB Zoom Dunk High Pro & Air Force 2 Low “Kevin Bradley”
Release Date: February 8
Release Price: $110/$95 USD, available via select Nike SB retailers and Nike SNKRS
Nike SB is back with two special editions of the Zoom Dunk High Pro and Air Force 2 Low in collaboration with skater Kevin Bradley. Both are coated in white uppers, while red and blue coloring respectively serve as each pair’s accent color. Subtle detailing is found on each iteration with the Zoom Dunk High Pro adding a palm tree to its heel and the Air Force 2 Low incorporating an image of Bradley’s dog on the insole. As a final touch, each colorway welcomes hidden lining under the white uppers that come to the surface with each wear.
adidas EQT Support ADV Mid
Release Date: February 8
Release Price: $160 USD, available via select adidas Originals retailers and adidas.com
adidas continues to pay homage to silhouettes of the past with a few needed upgrades. This time around the “Three Stripes” shares an upgraded running model in the EQT Support ADV. Resting atop a white midsole with contrasting adidas branding, the sock like upper welcomes knitted material with distinct patterns on the heel and forefoot. Core Black and Sub Green dominate the upper while the aforementioned heel welcomes grey and white.
Nike Air Force 1 Low & SF AF-1 “Lunar New Year”
Release Date: February 8
Release Price: $130/$180 USD, available via select Nike Sportswear retailers and Nike SNKRS
Nike also plans on celebrating Lunar New Year (February 16) with special editions of its Air Force 1 Low and SF AF-1. Both are dipped in white bases with celebratory dealing throughout. For the Air Force 1 Low, the majority of detailing lies within its lateral and medial Swoosh logos while subtle nods to the holiday are incorporated on the tongue and insole. For the SF AF-1, its celebratory designs are found within the translucent outsole. Metallic Gold coloring is added to the eyelets for the final touch while additional characters are also added to the insole.
Nike PG2 “Playstation”
Release Date: February 10
Release Price: $110 USD, available via select Nike Basketball retailers and Nike SNKRS
Facing the difficult task of topping the Nike PG1, the Swoosh is continuing its relationship with Paul George and releasing the PG2. The Swoosh fittingly plays off of PG’s love for video games by collaborating with Sony for a special edition of his second signature sneaker. Featuring light-up logos on each tongue, the sneaker plays off of Playstation’s notable features from its button colors to the galaxy-like theme and sounds during its startup.
adidas FUTURECRAFT 4D “Ash Green”
Release Date: February 10
Release Price: $300 USD, available via the adidas App (New York)
Set to drop in limited numbers, adidas will re-release its FUTURECRAFT 4D Runner in the notable “Ash Green” colorway. The technology-advanced sneaker is set to launch within the new adidas App with reservations opening on February 7. The design stays true to its original makeup thanks to its lightweight Primeknit upper in black and futuristic midsole in the aforementioned “Ash Green.”
