Bristol Studio Amps up Avant Garde Takes on Sportswear for Fall/Winter 2018
Reversible outerwear, misaligned shirting, and more.
After rebranding as Bristol Studio earlier this January, founder and creative director Luke Tadashi now presents the Fall/Winter 2018 collection of the label’s fledgling COLLEC—ON and STUD—O divisions.
Described as Tadashi’s “love letter to his Grandma,” the joint range spotlights an array of military-inspired garments that channel post-WWII aesthetics alongside unconventional suiting and sportswear. Notable executions include reversible down jackets with side snap closures, misaligned shirting, and sweatpants with pockets sewn inside-out. All pieces were meticulously crafted out of Japanese fabrics in Los Angeles, California.
More precisely, the collection is an “homage to his [Tadashi's] grandparent’s life which began in Japan in the 1920s through WWII and ends in America,” said the brand in a statement. Their story began in another time, on the other side of the world. Their day-to-day experience so foreign, it’s almost unimaginable. For all it’s differences however, Luke was drawn in by what he felt was timely relevant to today.
Accompanying the “imperfect garments” is the all-new Bristol x adidas BYW (Boost You Wear) Crazy silhouette. View the lookbook above and expect the sneaker to drop sometime during NBA All-Star Weekend in select adidas Consortium stores and Nice Kicks LA starting February 15 up until February 18.
