'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Debuts at No. 1 With $35.4 Million USD

Marvel and Sony‘s latest animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse made its weekend debut atop the North American box office charts. Ranking in $35.4 million USD in just three days, the surprise hit has now garnered the largest December animated opening; Illumination’s Sing previously held that title debuting with $35 million USD back in 2016.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was also able to knock Disney’s Ralph Breaks the Internet from the No. 1 spot after the film’s three streak run on top. Warner Bros.’ The Mule snagged the No. 2 spot with $17 million USD while The Grinch finished third with $11.58 million USD.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been creating quite the buzz, now seeing Sony hoping to patent the new animation technology.
