Elon Musk Responds to "Pedo Guy" Lawsuit
Claiming that his “over-the-top insults are not statements of fact.”

Elon Musk has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought by British cave diver Vernon Unsworth over a Twitter outburst from earlier this year. The defamation suit relates to Musk calling Unsworth a “Pedo guy” and later a “child rapist” after Unsworth had criticized Musk’s plan to save the Thai soccer team trapped in a cave.
In response to this lawsuit, Musk’s lawyers have claimed that the Tesla co-founder’s “over-the-top insults are not statements of fact,” as well as arguing that Twitter leads to volatile arguments and hyperbolic statements. Elsewhere in the motion, the lawyers acting for Musk justify his outburst as being in reply to Unsworth’s “indefensible and baseless attacks” while Musk was defending his employees who had “given up their days and nights” to work on the cave-rescue solution.
The ongoing lawsuit is the latest development in a difficult year for Musk, which has also seen him replaced by Robyn Denholm as chairman of Tesla.
