Black Thought Speaks With Jimmy Fallon About His Viral 10-Minute Freestyle

The Internet is still drowning in amazement from Black Thought‘s epic 10-minute freestyle he performed earlier this week on Funkmaster Flex‘s Hot 97. As Black Thought is part of the legendary group The Roots — the official house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon — it was more than appropriate for the rapper to sit down with host Jimmy Fallon to discuss the incredible verbal gymnastics and its current impact on social media. Black even laid down another freestyle towards the end.
Watch the interview and the original freestyle below. Black tells Fallon he planned on spitting for 10-15 minutes to heighten the freestyle bar on the Hot 97 show:
“I planned on doing 10-15 minutes. Funkmaster Flex Hot 97 freestyles, it’s an iconic moment. You know, it’s super meaningful for a rapper to get that platform. And in recent weeks, recent months, I’ve been checking out videos and the bar has been set, you know, like kinda high. People go on for 6..8..9.. minutes or so.”
