With his new Evil Genius album on the way, Gucci Mane stopped by the first ever HYPEFEST to speak to fans, soak up some of the scenery and more. We also caught up with the trap-rap legend for a brief conversation about his body of work, Atlanta and what he wants to do next.
“You can go to any country and do some trap music and they know it word-for-word,” Gucci Mane explains to us. “It’s like worldwide. I never knew it was gonna be that big like that. It’s a blessing; it feels good to be honored and respected.”
Elsewhere, Guwop elaborates on his future plans. “I had been locked up for three years, so when I got out I had a lot of things I wanted to express musically … I just want to see some things, I want to experience some things before I go back to recording. I don’t want to keep rapping about the same experiences. I need to take about six, seven months to live a little bit, then rap about what I’m seeing now.”
