Nike‘s popular Air Max 97 model in “Metallic Gold” is one of the most sought-after takes on the OG “Silver Bullet” model. The clunky sneaker may have international prominence now, but Italian sneakerheads were the first to champion the AM97 as a streetwear staple long before the rest of the world caught on, and this special “Italy” edition is a nod to the country.

The Air Max 97 “Italy” stays true to the model’s OG blueprints, featuring a “Metallic Gold” leather and textile upper, embroidered mini Swooshes and a full-length visible Max Air sole unit — what’s new is the Italian flag detailing at the tongue tab and heel tab.

The “Metallic Gold” Nike Air Max 97 “Italy” edition will hit European retailers on January 18 for a retail price of $160 USD. There’s no news on a stateside launch yet, so stay tuned for more information and let us know if you like this subtle design update in the comments. For more something similar, the Air Max 97 is dropping in “Metallic Red Bronze” soon.
