Frank Ocean’s Mom Wants Kim Burrell Removed From "Godspeed"
“Can we crop Kim Burrell’s voice out of your song?”
Kim Burrell, a gospel singer featured on Frank Ocean’s Blonde track “Godspeed,” recently delivered a sermon that described homosexuality as “perverted” and a “sin against the nature of God.” Frank’s mom, Katonya Breaux, took offense to the statement and now wants her son to have Kim Burrell removed from the track. “Son,” she says, “can we crop Kim Burrell’s voice out of your song?” Breaux added, “I mean d*mn. Hypocrisy and the inciting of hate pisses me off. Opportunistic &?%#€!”
Following her sermon, Burrell was dropped from a performance on Ellen with Pharrell. They were set to perform their track “I See a Victory” from the Hidden Figures soundtrack. Both Skateboard P and Hidden Figures starring actress Janelle Monáe have condemned Burrell for her speech.
Me: Son, can we crop Kim Burrells voice out of your song??
