Tonight the 75th annual Golden Globes brought Hollywood’s best out to celebrate the standouts of film and television we saw in 2017. Hosted by Late Night’s Seth Meyers, the event served as an emphatic start to the 2018 award season, while looking back at the media offerings that moved and entertained us last year.
Heading into the awards, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water fantasy romance held a staggering amount of nominations with critics expecting it to be the night’s big winner. Nominations for Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel proved the power of digital streaming platforms — giving traditional television shows a run for their money.
