Toronto Raptors Are Recruiting Gamers for NBA eSports League
All those late nights could pay off.

So you always thought you were a baller? Well now is the time to prove it — in the virtual world at least. The Toronto Raptors are joining an elite eSports league and you have the chance to be on their roster. Developers from Take-Two and 2K Sports have designed an online championship that is modeled on the NBA and uses 2K’s latest iteration, NBA 2K18, as the platform.
NBA 2K Managing Director, Brendan Donohue, was excited by the opportunity to invest in the gaming world. He announced that this new “extraordinary league” would be “bringing together the world’s best gamers and showcasing elite competition on an international stage.” These sentiments are mirrored by the Raptors parent company, MLSE, who stated the project was a no-brainer for all involved.
While the games don’t begin until next year, eSports officials are already scouring the gaming community to find the best talent. MLSE officials are also keen to let potential players know that becoming an official Raptors gamer will come with a lot of perks. “Our job will be to take whoever’s playing and help them become bigger celebrities just like would DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry,” said chief commercial officer, David Hopkinson.
Submissions are yet to officially open, but if you want to be this season’s MVP then keep it locked here for further developments.
