Chance the Rapper Raises $2.2 Million for Chicago's Schools
He might be the most charitable rapper out there.
Chance the Rapper just might be contemporary hip-hop’s most charitable artist. After putting together a free concert for Chicago residents a few weeks back, the 24-year-old has revealed that he has raised an additional $2.2 million USD for Chicago’s public school system.
Chance broke the news during yesterday’s summit for his non-profit organization SocialWorks, the outfit responsible for raising the $2.2 million USD. To divvy up the two-plus million dollar sum, the New Chance Fund will give out a $100,000 grant to 20 separate Chicago Public Schools. Hosted at Chicago’s Harold Washington Cultural Center, the SocialWorks conference also allowed Chance to announce the first-ever Twilight Awards, a special event that will honor “teachers, parents and principals, and students that convey leadership.” James Corden will serve as the host of that ceremony, and guest performers are expected to show up.

Besides his humanitarian work, Chance has also been working on his next project; towards the end of last month, he confirmed a collaboration with John Mayer and shared a preview of a new track.
