Tremaine Emory Talks Methodology Behind Virgil Abloh's Personalized Air Jordan 1 Seeding
“Beautifully imperfect.”
As we count down the days to the launch of the collaborative Virgil Abloh x Nike collection, one of his good friends, Tremaine Emory, walks viewers through the highly coveted Air Jordan 1 silhouette. Kicking things off, Emory sheds light on the friendship between himself and Abloh over the years, which leads to his admiration for Virgil’s methods behind the model’s seeding process. As we’ve seen via countless social media accounts, Abloh has made the process very personal by signing each pair with a special message in relation to its receiver.
The co-owner of No Vacancy Inn reminisces about reading the model’s “Mom Smiles” message for the first time (in reference to the unfortunate passing of his mother) and shares that Virgil’s message is deeper than the hype — it stems from the true relationship he has to each respective influencer which then proves that this collection is for Abloh’s community of supporters.
Moving forward, Tremaine touches upon its overall design mentioning Virgil’s Tom Sachs appreciation to it being a “beautifully imperfect” shoe. He also brings up the connection between Michael Jordan and Abloh lying within the city of Chicago.
Take a look at the video above to see what else Emory had to say in regards to the forthcoming sneaker and let us know your personal thoughts about the design.
As we patiently wait for this drop, take a look at how the Virgil Abloh x Nike sneakers compare to their original predecessors.
