mita sneakers & Le Coq Sportif Cook up a First-Ever Hybrid
The R 1000 meets the R XVI.

Late last year, Japanese sneaker stalwart mita tapped fellow countrymen and reggae-centric music heavyweights Mighty Crown for one of the best Le Coq Sportif collabs of all time: a bold rendition of the R 1000 that rocked everything from zebra stripes and leopard spots to scaly leather and the blue, white, and red of the French tricolour. This season, mita and LCS are back with yet another creation, once again tapping the R 1000, but utilizing it to create a brand new silhouette entirely. Dubbed the LCS R 921, the kicks pair the upper of the aforementioned R 1000 with the heel counter and sole of the LCS R XVI, employing the latter design’s Dynactif shock absorber system in the process. Best of all though? The gorgeous kicks come swathed in a colorway that mita’s creative director, Shigeyuki Kunii, brought to the 30-year-old Eureka a few months back.
Capped off with the likes of Aérotop Open Mesh technology and subtle co-branding, the LCS R 921 “Le Club” drops this Saturday, August 19, at mita and select Le Coq Sportif dealers across the globe.
