Essential's Overdue PH-1 Phone Finally Drops Next Week
Ahead of both Samsung’s Note 8 and Apple’s iPhone 8.
The Essential Phone, which started taking pre-orders back in May, will finally start shipping out next week in at least one color. Thanks to some careful email observations — which offered a color exchange — 9 to 5 Google has uncovered that the Black Moon color of the smart phone will “ship within seven days” because “[the] Pure White device is still a couple of weeks away.” Originally slated to start shipping in June, customers hoping to veer away from market juggernauts Samsung and Apple can breathe a sigh of relief.
With specs that rival said competitors — a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage — the PH-1 isn’t cheap but is still reasonably priced at $699 USD or $749 USD for the version with a 360-degree camera. Sprint will have the exclusive on the Essential Phone at launch and is supposedly selling it starting on Friday, August 18 with a “First Look” event slated for August 25.
