McLaren and LEGO Make Dreams Come True With a Full-Scale 720S Supercar Model
With the help of a professional LEGO building team.
McLaren and LEGO built a full-scale 720S supercar for the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Using 267,300 tiny LEGO bricks in white, red, orange, grey and black, the aluminium and carbon fiber structure was entirely replaced to form a 1:1 ratio LEGO version of the supercar. Arriving to the Festival incomplete, visitors were able to contribute to completing the supercar for charity using 12,700 bricks. Compared to the production of a real McLaren 720S which takes 12 days to construct, the LEGO version took around 2,000 hours and over 280,000 bricks, completed by a six-person professional LEGO building team called Bright Bricks.
The project raised $3,000 USD for the Goodwood Festival of Speed and you can check out the video above.
