Frank Ocean Calls Upon Tom Sachs For "Provider" Lyrical Video
Also starring Hello Kitty.
Just yesterday, crooner Frank Ocean dropped the surprise single “Provider” during the seventh episode of his Beats 1 Radio show BlondedRADIO. Shortly after the release, Ocean premiered a lyrical video starring visual artist Tom Sachs, who can be seen customizing a boombox with bigger speaker cones and a Velcro-attached machete. As the tape begins to play, “Provider” lyrics are counted along with a bouncing Hello Kitty head.
“Provider” also includes a slew of references from Aphex Twin, shoegaze, Talking Heads, Jaws, Patagonia sportswear, and Stanley Kubrick. Ocean has yet to release the video on YouTube, but you can check it out over at blonded.co.
Back in early June, Frank Ocean made an appearance in Nike’s Tom Sachs film, The Hero’s Journey. And if you’ve missed it, Frank Ocean adds a verse to 2 Chainz’s “Rolls Royce B*tch.”
