Take a Look at the Proposed Design of Google's Giant New London HQ
A new design after the CEO called the original “too boring.”
Google has revealed the potential design of its new headquarters in the middle of London. The building, designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) and Thomas Heatherwick, measures 1 million square feet (or 92,000 square meters) and will feature everything from a rooftop running track to an Olympic-sized pool, as well as a basketball court and enough space for 4,500 employees. This is Google’s second design for the building, after Larry Page, the company’s CEO, apparently described the earlier plans as “too boring.” Although there has been no word on cost for the new design, the initial plan had been expected to cost around £1 billion GBP ($1.3 billion USD). At the moment there is also no expected finish date for the new headquarters, but work is reportedly starting next year.
