Yesterday, XXL revealed the roster for this year’s XXL Freshman class. For the 2017 rankings, the hip-hop media mainstay looked to XXXTENTACION, Playboi Carti, Kamaiyah, Ugly God, Madeintyo, PnB Rock, Kyle, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Amine, and Kap G for this year’s most talented up-and-comers. Ahead of the outlet’s series of cyphers and Freshman vignettes, XXL has unveiled a behind-the-scenes visual that gives viewers an exclusive look at what went down at this year’s XXL Freshman gathering. The 2017 XXL Freshman cover-shoot took place this past April at Brooklyn, NYC’s Dune Studios; there were photoshoots, freestyles, cyphers, interviews and more.
