Scarlett Johansson Narrates a New Mini-Documentary on Artist Jeff Koons
With appearances by Pharrell, Condo, Gagosian and more.
Last May, world-famous artist Jeff Koons was honored during MOCA’s 38th annual gala at the Geffen Contemporary in Los Angeles, California. The 62-year-old luminary was even the subject of a new mini-documentary directed by Oscar Boyson, which premiered at the prestigious function. Simply titled Jeff Koons, the eight-minute clip is entirely narrated by Hollywood darling Scarlett Johansson. Not to mention, there are appearances by Pharrell Williams, Larry Gagosian, and George Condo, to name a few.
The video highlights Koons’ modest beginnings — like selling memberships at MoMA in New York — to his rise to art stardom. Additionally, his iconic artwork spanning Balloon Dog, Puppy, everyday objects, concert backdrops, and car designs, as well as yacht makeovers, fill the rapid fast sequences. Although unmentioned in the doc, it’s important to note that Koons is highly revered as the artist to have sold the most expensive artwork at an auction: Balloon Dog (Orange) sold for a hefty $58.4 million USD back in 2013.
Watch the video above and be sure to drop by the Gagosian to check out a Jeff Koons retrospective currently on view.
