A new Bruce Lee biopic is on its way to a theater near you. Titled Little Dragon, the film will focus on the legendary actor and martial artist’s street-seasoned come-up in 1950s Hong Kong. Acclaimed Indian director Shekhar Kapur and Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee will help produce and direct the piece, with Shannon Lee also serving as a co-writer of the script. “The film will be a contemporary take on Bruce Lee who, aside from being considered the most gifted and famous martial artist of all-time, is now accepted as a major philosopher in his own right,” Kapur explains. Shannon adds, “I always thought that a film about how my father’s life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior.”
At this time, the Little Dragon crew is searching for a “charismatic teenager” to play the role of Bruce Lee. Filming for Kapur and Lee’s Bruce Lee biopic is tentatively scheduled to begin sometime this summer.
