LỰU ĐẠN founder Hung La loved Bruce Lee so much that he teamed up with the official Bruce Lee Institute for a limited-edition collection in celebration of AAPI Month. Instead of casting a look-alike for their campaign, Bruce Lee Institute provided archival imagery of the “Little Dragon” himself for the official launch, using AI and retouching to dress him in the new collection.
As a Vietnamese American designer, Hung La had always had an affinity for Bruce Lee’s cinematic work. Inspired by the actor and martial arts fighter’s resilient journey into Hollywood, LỰU ĐẠN shared that La’s childhood appreciation for Lee was only further cemented by watching Bao Nguyen’s Be Water, a 2021 documentary recounting the lesser-known struggles of breaking into the entertainment industry. The spark that made the Bruce Lee collaboration happen came from Nguyen’s visit to the LỰU ĐẠN showroom in 2023.
The collection includes graphic tees and hoodies with archival imagery and colors inspired by Bruce Lee’s most iconic looks, like the yellow jumpsuit from ‘Game of Death’. Standing out is a flame-covered bomber that draws inspiration from retro Kung Fu movie graphics and an XL belt buckle with Bruce Lee embossed in the center.
