With LA’s historic Mono Lake serving as design inspiration, Stone Island the contrast between desert and city in its “SS ‘026” collection, crafting silhouettes influenced by workwear and sailing, and incorporating a rich color palette of blues, browns, burnt orange and dusty pinks.

As expected, material innovation takes center stage in the collection’s execution. Stone Island pushes its signature reflective and heat-reactive technology further this season, while introducing its latest wax fabric treatment process and expanding the Denim Research line with an enzyme bleach-dyed piece and a heavy gauge Oxford nylon.

WAXED PIGMENT COTTON TELA

Keeping in line with the theme, Hypebeast heads to the city’s diverse landscapes to capture Stone Island’s “SS ‘026” pieces in their natural environment.

From a garment dyed matte-appearance lightweight canvas jacket tackling the inclines of the desert mountains to the heat-reactive nylon micro ripstop jacket with an aluminum foil lining posted on the beachside, each shot reflects the terrain the garment was designed for.

By spotlighting both the brand’s hues and history, we explore the camouflage capabilities of the pieces in nature, such as how the knitwear can seamlessly blend into the blue skies, as well as delve into the rich outdoor heritage of wax jackets to honor its latest material experimentation.
