Canon's New 35mm Macro Lens Has a Built-In Ring Light
The widest macro lens in the company’s crop sensor lineup.

Not long ago, Canon announced that they are working on a “new lens technology” that will perhaps be a game-changer in the photography industry. Now, the Japanese mainstay has taken the wraps off its latest 35 macro lens that has built-in ring light. More specifically, LED Macro Lites appear on each side of the lens which allows shutterbugs to manipulate and control brightness levels without having extra equipment to haul around. This isn’t the first lens to have that feature, rather, the company’s EF-M 28mm STM Macro also has a built-in ring light.
As far as its specs go, the 35mm touts a f/2.8 aperture, a 7-blade aperture diaphragm alongside a 1:1 maximum reproduction ratio. Canon states that it is the widest macro lens in the company’s crop sensor lineup. The lens will hit store shelves sometime in June for approximately $350 USD.
