Netflix will be producing an exclusive anime based around Devilman, the manga created by Kiyoshi Nagai (better known as Go Nagai). The manga ran from 1972 to 1973 and follows a teenage boy named Akira Fudo. Moreover, it’s well-known for its intense violence and was considered one of the most violent and controversial manga series at the time. Netflix’s adaptation will be called Devilman: Crybaby, and will be written and directed by iconic Japanese anime writer Masaaki Yuasa (whose previous work includes Mind Game and Adventure Time).
Devilman: Crybaby is slated to be released in Japan sometime in 2018. Netflix will also be releasing an anime based around Godzilla.
