There's a 'Final Fantasy'-Inspired Virtual Reality Roller Coaster Coming Soon
The new attraction will be open to the public between Jan. 19 and June 24.
Universal Studios Japan will launch a limited-time Final Fantasy ride called Final Fantasy XR. The park released a video of the ride on December 25 and shared info about what to expect.
Participants of the new roller coaster will be fitted with virtual reality headsets that will be playing Final Fantasy content while the ride is happening. Riders will get a chance to experience various Final Fantasy worlds and face danger with the game’s signature characters such as Sephiroth, Cloud, Squall, Lightning, among others.
This isn’t the first time Universal Studios Japan used a game to enhance the experience for their guests; the Osaka-based fun land revealed images of their Super Nintendo World Theme Park this past June.
The visuals for the new VR experience were produced by Final Fantasy developer Square Enix’s FX house, Visual Works. Final Fantasy XR is a part of Universal Studios Japan’s annual Cool Japan event. The ride will run from Jan. 19 and June 24 in 2018.
