The interior design of its stores is important for Australian skincare brand Aesop, with eye-catching spaces in Leipzig and Seoul opening over the past year. For its latest flagship in London’s Chelsea district, the brand has taken inspiration from the opening scenes of James Bond films to create a futuristic new concept space.
The store is focused on a large central column and twelve arches that spread from it — each one creating a new zone of the space. This pillar is then surrounded by a large display sink, which is edged by a shallow pool of reflective water. The whole Duke of York Square space — which was designed by Aesop’s long-term collaborator Snøhetta – is then finished in a earthy tone to reference the masonry of surrounding buildings.
