OFIS Arhitekti Combines "Living Units" for Pop-Up Library
Giving views across Ljubljana.
Slovenian architecture firm OFIS Arhitekti first unveiled its modular “Living Units” at Milan Design Week earlier this year. Each structure is a small living space that can be reconfigured and combined with other units to create a bigger space. Although originally designed as prototypes for modular homes, the architects are now trialling other uses for the spaces.
One of these new uses is as a pop-up library, with three of the structures placed on top of one another in the grounds of Ljubljana Castle in Slovenia’s capital city. Each pod features space for visitors to read, while large windows offer sweeping views across the city.
