Hayao Miyazaki Announces the Title of His Last Film
And it’s not ‘Boro the Caterpillar.’
Hayao Miyazaki has revealed the title of his last film to be Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka, which roughly translates to How Do You Live? The title comes from a book of the same name written by author Genzaburo Yoshino, who told children’s tales with liberal themes in the ’30s because the Imperial government didn’t censor them.
“The film is about how this particular book featured prominently in the protagonist’s life,” Miyazaki said this weekend. “It will take three to four years to complete the anime.” Reported by The Asahi Shimbun, Miyazaki discussed the movie while speaking at the Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum at Waseda University in Tokyo. When Miyazaki first announced he wanted to return to feature films (previously titled Kemushi no Boro, or Boro the Caterpillar), he stated he wanted the project finished by the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. However, it’s speculated the film may not be done until 2021.
