Billboard Announces Paid Streams Will Be Worth More Than YouTube Views
After the video service helped Post Malone hit number one on the Hot 100.

After it was reported that Billboard will begin to start counting YouTube views, the music chart recently announced that video views will be weighted less than paid streams. Looking to create accurate lists, Billboard revealed its plans to implement a weighted tier system for its Hot 100 list in 2018. The news comes after Post Malone’s “Rockstar” hit number one on the Hot 100 list thanks to a YouTube video that received over 51 million views. Additionally, the Top 200 Albums list is also set to receive a weighted system which will tabulate paid streams and ad-supported streams.
