The MahaNakhon Skyscraper Debuts as Thailand's Tallest Building
Standing at 1,029-feet high.

Germany-based architecture firm Büro Ole Scheeren recently unveiled its colossal skyscraper, the MahaNakhon, which is now the tallest building in Thailand. The 1,029-foot superstructure debuted on August 29 and is intended for hotel, retail and residential use — Ritz-Carlton Residences currently owns and manages 200 of the building’s condo units. Not to mention, it also boasts an outdoor rooftop bar with unrivaled views of Bangkok along with a three-story sky bar. According to the Architectural Digest, the futuristic tower that resembles piecemeal pixels ascending through a spiral had cost the firm approximately $520 million USD to construct.
Despite its vertical grandeur, the MahaNakhon may only reign as the tallest structure in Thailand for the next three years. The forthcoming Rama IX Super Tower which is slated for completion in 2019 will presumably be twice the size of Büro Ole Scheeren’s spiraling monument at 2,018 feet tall.
