The Court Dismissed Beyoncé Lemonade Lawsuit
“The Court grants defendants’ motion.”
Filmmaker Matthew Fulk claimed that Beyonce‘s Lemonade took imagery from his 2014 short film Palinoia. He shares that the pop star’s team knew about his work because he was approached to do something worth her label, Columbia, in 2015. Elements Fulk claims to have been taken from his film include “graffiti and persons with heads down,” “red persons with eyes obscured,” and “the grass scene.” On September 1, US District Judge Jef Rakoff dismissed the case. He said: “Upon full consideration of the parties’ briefs and oral arguments, the Court grants defendants’ motion. A memorandum explaining the reasons for this ruling will issue in due course, at which time final judgment will be entered.” Check out both videos below.
