Amazon Is Turning 'The Departed' Into a Drama Series
Amazon partners with Warner Bros. TV for an adaptation of the Oscar-winning film.

Martin Scorsese’s 2006 Oscar-winning The Departed is coming to the small screen: Amazon has reportedly partnered with Warner Bros. TV and Brad Pitt’s Plan B to adapt the film into a drama series for Amazon Video. Marking the first time Warner’s TV division has co-produced a project with Amazon, the new series will be written by Jason Richman and revolve “around a young cop who infiltrates a Latino gang in Chicago and battles the gang’s own plant in the police department.”
The film (which was inspired by 2002’s Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs), you may remember, starred the likes of Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, and Mark Wahlberg and won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay, and Editing and also garnered a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Wahlberg.
This also marks the second time Pitt and Plan B have worked on The Departed as the film was the production company’s second-ever project following 2004’s financially successful, but critically-panned Illiad-inspired Troy (which starred Pitt as Achilles).
