Converse Tailors the Chuck Taylor All Star for Rio
Open Knit construction comes to the Nike-assisted update of the classic silhouette.

Let’s face it: while we all love retro canvas kicks for their old school simplicity, their construction doesn’t exactly make them the best for the sweltering summer months. Thankfully, Converse is aware of this and has crafted the perfect warm weather update to its most iconic silhouette: the Chuck Taylor All Star. Inspired by Brazilian beach culture and this summer’s Olympic Games in Rio, Converse’s brand new “Open Knit” takes on the Chuck remedy the shoe’s usual shortcomings. Here, canvas has been swapped out for a breathable open mesh upper while the use of the updated Chuck II means Nike’s Lunarlon provides plush cushioning.
Expect both high- and low-top colorways — each in Brazil-centric colorways — to hit converse.com and select retailers today, August 11.
