Watch Cate Blanchett's Face Disintegrate in Massive Attack's "The Spoils" Music Video
John Hillcoat helms the trip hop legends’ latest visuals.
British trip hop legends Massive Attack have been on a musical and visual roll this year. Since returning with the acclaimed Robert Del Naja-led Ritual Spirit back in January (a four-track EP featuring the likes of Tricky, Young Fathers and Roots Manuva), the duo has tapped both Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and Kate Moss for the accompanying music videos to “Voodoo in My Blood” and the EP’s title track — helmed by Ringan Ledwidge and 3D himself, respectively. Now the outfit is back with two Daddy G-led productions, “Come Near Me” and “The Spoils,” and has followed up the unsettling video for the former Ghostpoet-assisted track with one for the latter. Directed by John Hillcoat, the piece taps yet another household name, this time calling upon Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett for a unique production that combines the simplicity of Moss’s “Ritual Spirit” performance with a trippy aesthetic right at home alongside Ledwidge’s production and the “Come Near Me” visuals.
