As part of the annual Seattle Art Fair, Vulcan Inc. recently unveiled a pop-up exhibition that was hosted by world-renowned Japanese artist, Takashi Murakami. The event which was held at the Pivot Art + Culture‘s 3,000-square-foot flexible concept space ran from August 4-7. It coalesced a slew of works that culled inspiration from Murakami’s manga and anime-based concepts from the late ’90s—which were previously condensed into a traveling exhibition dubbed Superflat in 2001. The recent exhibition was more or less a sequel of that stirring postmodern art movement—one that was also promoted by Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine and featured works from over 23 established artists especially from Murakami’s beloved Kaikai Kiki Gallery.

The artists selected by Murakami included Chiho Aoshima, Urs Fischer, Kim Jung Gi, Kazunori Hamana, James Jean, JH Kagaku, Friedrich Kunath, Takashi Murakami, Kazumi Nakamura, Otani Workshop, Mark Ryden, David Shrigley, Katsuya Terada, a selection from Toilet Paper Magazine, Yuji Ueda, Yuji Ueno, He Xiang Yu, and Zoer & Velvet. While Juxtapoz Editor-in-Chief Evan Pricco assisted in curating works from Trenton Doyle Hancock, Todd James, Austin Lee, Rebecca Morgan, Elisabeth Higgins O’Connor, Paco Pomet, Parra, Christian Rex van Minnen. Erin M. Riley, Devin Troy Strother, Sage Vaughn, and Ben Venom.
