Michael Jordan Set to Captain Michigan Football Team
The Wolverines and Jumpman make history.
In an interview with Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh on The Rich Eisen Show, Harbaugh announced that Michael Jordan will be serving as an honorary captain for the team’s Sept. 3 opener game against Hawaii. Michigan, which recently shifted its apparel contract from adidas to Nike, will be the first football team to leverage the Jordan Brand, which explains MJ’s new role. Harbaugh also offered Eisen the position for the Wolverines’ Sept. 10 home game against the UCF Knights. The 15-year agreement between Michigan and Nike begins on Aug. 1, during which new uniforms sporting the Jumpman logo will be revealed for the football team, as well as UM’s men and women basketball teams. We anticipate seeing the results from the iconic brand’s partnership soon.
