Liz Jensen‘s bestselling book The 9th Life of Louis Drax gets its well-deserved film adaptation with a young and fresh Hollywood cast that could bring this unique psychological thriller to life on the big screen.

After enduring eight unlucky near-death accidents throughout his young life, Louis Drax (Aiden Longworth) goes into a deep coma after falling off a cliff on his ninth birthday. Passionate about his case, neurologist Dr. Allan Pascal (Jamie Dornan from 50 Shades of Grey) uses unorthodox methods to tap into the boy’s unconscious to discover the truth about his condition, revealing secrets of his ability to cheat death tied to an emotionally unstable father (Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad). Sarah Gadon (Dracula Untold) also stars as Louis’s mother, Natalie Drax.

Directed by Alexandre Aja, The 9th Life of Louis Drax hits theaters September 2. Catch the trailer that was released by Lionsgate today, above.
