A Few Strands of David Bowie's Hair Just Sold for Nearly $20k
Makes you think twice next time you get that fade.

A few strands of David Bowie‘s hair has found a new home, while someone just made out with nearly $20k for slanging some hair. Pieces of the rock legend’s hairdo was sold at auction over the weekend for £13,700 — roughly $18,750 USD. It was put on the auction block by Wendy Farrier, who cut samples of Bowie’s hair in 1983 in order to match the wig used for his wax dummy at Madame Tussauds. The company policy at Tussauds states all subjects’ hair samples must be destroyed, but Farrier held on to a small portion, framing it with a photo of the two of them together. The sale was reportedly being held to benefit the Soi Dog Foundation, a Thailand-based organization working on behalf of special needs pups. “I wanted to give something back. I’m not a wealthy lady,” said Farrier. “Soi Dogs does such good work. It will go to helping them to feed the dogs, rehabilitate them, get them off to good homes. I hope people understand the reason why I’m selling it.”
