Pharrell Williams and Scott Vener recently invited Tyler, The Creator, Chad Hugo and Justin Timberlake over to their Beats 1 show, OTHERtone, for a lengthy round table dialogue on contemporary music that premiered this past Sunday. Among topics like the history of The Neptunes, the making of Justin’s album Justified, and the late, great Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest (may the Midnight Marauder rest in peace), the conversation makes for one intriguing discussion among the seasoned industry veterans. You may remember it was indeed The Neptunes who inspired Tyler to pursue music in the first place, and after interviewing his idol Pharrell at Camp Flog Gnaw two years ago, it’s humbling to see him join the table both as a fan and an influential artist.
